Fiber optic PLC splitter is a kind of integrated waveguide optical power distribution device based on quartz substrate. It is widely used in passive optical network (PON) and FTTx network. It is one of the most important passive optical devices in optical fiber links. It has one or more input terminals and multiple output terminals, which are used to connect the local terminals and terminal devices in passive optical network (PON) and achieve optical signal splitting. According to the network structure, the distribution of PLC optical splitter is different in the network. Generally, there are two kinds of fiber optic PLC splitters, which are centralized distribution and cascade distribution.

PLC optical splitter concentrated distribution is optical splitter is concentrated fixed on a position between the optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network unit (ONT), and then transmitted to each terminal user, this way more suitable for network application which the users are centralized. Fiber optic PLC splitter used here is usually 1:32 and 1:64. For example,a 1x32 PLC optical splitter can be used to deliver local network services to 32 home users respectively.

The centralized distribution PLC optical splitters is usually installed in the fiber distribution hub or fiber terminal box. Among them, the fiber optic PLC splitter used in the optical fiber distribution hub is pallet type, micro type (steel tube) and ABS box type. The PLC optical splitter used in the optical terminal box is bare fiber type.

The largest difference between the cascade distribution and the concentrated distribution is that the cascade distribution has two stages of light splitting (the concentration distribution is only one stage of the light splitting). For example, if we use fiber optic plc splitter in cascade distribution to provide service to 32 home users, the optical splitter is dispersed, the splitting ratio of the PLC splitter in first level is 1:4, and the splitting ratio of the PLC splitter in second level is 1:8.

The cascade distribution way is more complex than the concentrated distribution, but it can maximize the utilization of optical fiber resources, and the wiring is flexible, which is more suitable for the more dispersed network applications. Main Characteristics Of Fiber Distribution Box

 

1, Box structure: the 1x8 fiber distribution box is mainly composed of box body, tilting plate, optical cable fixing and grounding unit, butterfly optical cable fixing unit, sealing component and wire ring component.

2, Box function: the interior is designed with double layer structure, which is divided into optical distribution area, outdoor cable introduction, fixing, fusion splicing and FTTH butterfly drop cable storage area. The optical fiber path is clear and not interfering with each other. It is convenient for construction operation and later maintenance.

3, The lower part of the box has 2 cable inlets. It can be inserted 2 outdoor optical cables and 16 FTTH butterfly drop cables. To meet the direct or divergent connection of the outdoor cable and the end of the butterfly drop cable.
