Comparison of EPON and GPON

 

Fiberall provide both EPON and GPON equipment. Which one is better? Please check the below comparison for your reference.

 

Both of them are developed from A/BPON and they have the same technology source. But they follow different standards. EPON complies to IEEE standard ( IEEE 802.3ah ) and GPON complies with ITU standard ( ITU G.984 ).

 

EPON use the most simple technology for most mainstream business and provide enough function and performance and GPON provides perfect function and performance for all business in a complex way

 

The efficiency of EPON is low due to the use of 8B/10B line coding, generally around 60%-70% and GPON uses scrambling code NRZ encoding, so that the efficiency is higher, usually around 90%.
