Introduction

Choose the drawing die with good pass design

The pass of wire drawing die is generally divided into curve (i.e. R-type Series) and straight line (i.e. conical Series).

From the point of view of uniform deformation of wire rod in the stay die, it seems that the curve type is better than the straight line type. This pass is designed under the guidance of the theory of "smooth transition". According to the working nature, its pass structure can be divided into five parts: "inlet area", "lubrication area", "working area", "sizing area" and "sunrise area". The junction of each part requires "chamfering" and smooth transition, The whole pass is ground into a large solitary surface with different curvature. The mold of this pass can still be applied under the condition of drawing speed at that time. From the late 1970s to the early 1980s, with the improvement of wire drawing speed, the service life of wire drawing die has become a prominent problem. In order to meet the requirements of high-speed stay wire, t. maxwall and e.g. kennth of the United States put forward the "linear" theory. The theory focuses on the lubrication and wear factors in the drawing process, and points out that the improved hole type of linear stay wire die should have the following characteristics:

(1) The longitudinal section line of each part of the pass must be straight, and the drawing force of the straight working cone is the smallest;

(2) The connecting part of each part of the die must be obvious, so that each part can give full play to its own role and avoid the reduction of the transition angle to the actual length of the sizing area;

(3) Extend the height of the inlet area and working area to make the wire enter the middle section of the working cone of the die hole. Use the wedge-shaped area formed by the inlet cone angle and the upper half of the working cone angle to establish the "wedge effect", and form a denser and firm lubricating film on the surface of the wire to reduce wear, which is suitable for high-speed drawing;

(4) The sizing area must be straight and reasonable in length. If the sizing area is too long, the pull wire friction increases, and the wire is easy to cause shrinkage or wire breakage after being pulled out of the die hole. If the sizing area is too short, it is difficult to obtain the wire with stable shape, accurate size and good surface quality. At the same time, the die hole will wear out of tolerance quickly. Through practical application, the service life of the stay die designed by using the linear theory is longer than that of the R-type stay die
