Stainless steel 904l flange is composed of unstable austenitic stainless steel material. The material is composed of 23% nickel, 19% chromium and carbon, silicon, copper, sulfur, manganese, phosphorus and 4% molybdenum. The flanges belong to ASTM A182 and ASTM A240 specifications.ASTM A182 F904L stainless steel flanges are highly corrosion resistant. Due to its high alloying-25% nickel and 4.5% molybdenum-904L provides excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting and general corrosion resistance, superior to 316L and 317L molybdenum-reinforced stainless steels. It also offers good resistance to other inorganic acids such as hot phosphoric acid as well as most organic acids.
