Water circulates continuously in the coils of a closed cooling tower; heat energy is absorbed by the walls of the coils, and then discharged via the fan situated at the top of the tower. When the temperature of circulating water within the coils rises to exceed the set temperature, the spray system is automatically activated. Water sprays onto the hot, damp coils and creates a thin film, absorbing the heat of the coils, and then evaporating into steam.
