Duplex 2205 is a type of stainless steel that has undergone a nitrogen enhancement process to increase its anti-corrosion features. Unlike austenitic stainless steels such as SS304, and ferritic stainless steels such as SS430, Duplex 2205 is a combination of both steels. In its annealed condition, the Duplex 2205 contains 40-50% ferrite, making it a workhorse grade and the most commonly used steel in the duplex family. The advantages of its dual properties can be seen in its capability to tolerate corrosion but still maintain its strength. However, this steel can only be used in temperatures below 600°F.

2205 duplex stainless steel is widely used because of its cost efficiency and resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. This is due to its composition of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen, which give great resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The steel is especially suitable for services such as marine environments, brackish water, bleaching operations, closed loop water systems, and some food processing.

Features:

Each one tubing coil is completely continuous, with no orbital welds. They are hydrostatically tested at 10,000psi or higher, and third party inspectors (SGS, BV, or DNV) can witness this testing onsite. In addition, we also use eddy current testing, chemical testing, flattening, flaring, tensile, yield, elongation, and hardness testing to ensure the quality of the material.

We take extra steps to make sure that all inner and outer surfaces on control lines and chemical injection lines are as clean as possible. We use vacuum annealing to remove unwanted metallic oxides and any residual degreasing solvents or drawing lubricants. This means that the alloy tubing has a bright, sleek appearance and excellent mechanical properties.
