This specification refers to the RY series thermal cutoff. It is one-shot non-resettable electrical component, designed for thermal protection as electrical cutoff. If used for other purpose, or the instruction and cautions are not allowed, the product specification is not in effect.

 

The trigger part is a thermal pellet with special formula. The pellet presses Spring B and makes the contact connected under common temperature condition. When the working temperature of thermal link reaches the rated function temperature, the thermal pellet would melt and the spring B is released. Then, Spring A will push Star Contact and make it disconnected to lead. The circuit would be cut off permanently.

 

 

 

 

Mounting location: It needsrepeatedly verification to get a propermounting location. Infrared detector or thermocouple can be used for temperature detection so as to find out the protective temperature under malfunction. The designer should pay attention that the thermal link can only sense the intended heat source. For instance, when using the thermal link to heater, thermal link can not be connected to heating element directly, but through an non-heating wire to isolate from heating element to thermal link, so that the heat generated by heating element can not be transmitted to thermal link through lead. The thermal link is intended to mount the most sensitive location. If it is used in coil, it is better recess the thermal link inside of coil to improve the temperature sensitivity.

 

 

Each thermal cut off has its own electrical and temperature ratings. It should be intended to work in the range of rated parameters, including Tf, Th or Tc, rated voltage and current. The details refer to table 2. The normal continuous working temperature should not exceed the holding temperature Th. In addition, the current flow through the thermal link would generate some heat, which would cause body temperature higher thank ambient temperature. Different mounting method and location would cause different temperature increase.

 

 

Production Capability, Precise Equipment

 

 

When mounting,be careful of the short circuit of epoxy resin,for example,to avoid the contact between lead wireA and the case,otherwise,the current will flow from the lead wire on the epoxy resin seal side to the opposite lead wire so that the thermal-link can not break the circuit.Organic temperatuer-sensing thermal-link is live device,be sure that the case will have no contact with other metal mounting parts and insulation protection is provided on its surface.​

 

Notes:

Thermal link is an one-time, un-resettable device. For safety reasons, please use the same model for replacement and mounted to the same position.

 

Transport:should be careful to avoid fuse body temperature exceeding its Th.For products with Tf<91℃,special care should be taken during summer transportation.

 

Operating environment:Do not use the thermal cutoff in water,organic solvents,other liquids,condensed water,or environments containing sulfurous acid gas,nitrous acid gas.

 

The designer has to make sure that the overshoot temperature after the opening in the application should not exceed the maximum temperature Tm. For example, see figure 5, the temperature of a heating gun will increase to Tf if the income opening or outcome opening is blocked. Then, the thermal link will cut the circuit off. But an improper design may cause the circuit opens earlier or too high over-shoot temperature would damage the thermal link. So, the application should experience repeatedly tests to make sure that the ambient temperature of thermal link can never reach Tm under normal temperature float ion
