How to test Gigabit fiber media converter? Testing is an important means to ensure the performance of routing link, so network debugging can not be used to test the link performance. The testing standard of cabling system changes with the development of network technology. The standard has been used successively:

TSB-67 field test standard, TSB95 field test standard, TIA-568-A-5-2000 Cat5e LAN cable gigabit network test standard, GB/T 50312-2000 building and architectural complex integrated cabling system engineering acceptance standard.

The TIA-568-B standard passed in 2001 has integrated the content standards of TIA/EIA-568-A, TSB 72, 75, 95 and so on, and it becomes the new cabling and testing standards. The standard gives up the basic link mode (Basiclink) in the original test standard and adopts the permanent link connection mode.

Permanent link model eliminates influence on the test results, which from the link connecting with tester at both ends and connection line on circuit, if the test is done according to the model and passed, then to use qualified connection cable from the original manufacturers to connect the network equipment will obtain qualified links, and can be directly put into use. (ACR): refers to the difference between the near end crosstalk loss and attenuation. ACR (dB) =NEXT (dB) - A (dB).

ACR is a very important physical parameter, and it is a form of signal to noise ratio on line to line. ACR=0 shows that the signals transmitted on the line will be submerged by noise, so the higher the better the frequency point corresponding to the ACR=0 is. High ACR means that the received signal is greater than the crosstalk.

Equal level far end crosstalk (ELFEXT): because the Cat5 cable uses full duplex parallel mode to transmit data, the far end crosstalk will also affect the signal, so it is necessary to measure the induced crosstalk signal at the far end point, which is the measurement of FEXT value. However, due to the attenuation of the signal in the line, makes the signal intensity transmitted by the remote point is too weak, so that the measured FEXT value is not the true far end crosstalk value, so it is necessary to subtract the attenuation value of the line with the measured FEXT value to obtain the so-called ELFEXT value.

ELFEXT=FEXT- A (A is transmission attenuation of receiving twisted pairs, Power sum ELFEXT): far end crosstalk refers to the energy coupling to the far end of the line pair (far from the signal sending end) that is coupled to the line pair of the transmitted signal. In Gigabit Ethernet, all line pairs are used to transmit signals, and each line pair is subject to interference from other line pairs, so the far end crosstalk of fiber media converter must to do power sum to obtain a true description of the energy coupling.
