The axial piston pump consists of a cylinder block with several pistons arranged in a circular pattern around a central driveshaft. The cylinder block is mounted in a housing that contains ports for hydraulic fluid.
As the driveshaft rotates, the pistons move in and out of their respective cylinders. As each piston moves outward, it creates a vacuum that draws hydraulic fluid into the cylinder through an inlet port. As the piston moves back inward, it compresses the hydraulic fluid, forcing it out of the cylinder and through an outlet port.
