ABOUT PECAN WOOD:
It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Pecan wood veneer is most often the uniform dark heartwood but sometimes may include small areas of the contrasting pale yellow beige sapwood. Standard A grade pecan veneer commonly allows for some defects such as occasional pin knots and small mineral streaks. Pecan is a hardwood that is hard and dense but relatively easy to work with. It is strong, with a medium coarse texture and moderately porous grain. Pecan wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well but is usually finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and beauty of the wood’s natural color.
