The nickel-chromium alloy known as Alloy Nickel Inconel 718 is known for its high strength and corrosion resistance, and can be used at temperatures ranging from 423 to 1300 degrees Fahrenheit (253 to 705 degrees Celsius). This age-hardenable alloy is easy to fabricate into complex parts and has excellent welding properties. In addition to corrosion resistance and easy fabrication, it also has strong tensile, fatigue, creep, and rupture strengths.
Nickel Inconel 718 is used in a variety of applications due to its unique combination of properties, including cryogenic tankage, fasteners, structural components, liquid-fueled rockets, rings, and casings, as well as numerous formed sheet metal parts designed for land-based and aircraft gas generator engines.
Technology Steel & Materials offers nine sub-type specifications of Nickel Inconel 718, each in a unique form or shape.
