DIN17660/ DIN EN 12168 CuZn20Al2 F39/ CW509L Brass Copper Seamless Tube
CuZn20Al2 Features
Excellent seawater corrosion resistance: The addition of aluminum (Al) forms a dense, highly adhesive aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) protective film on the alloy surface, which significantly improves the corrosion resistance to seawater (especially erosion corrosion and dezincification corrosion), brackish water and other chloride ion solutions. This is its core advantage for condensers and heat exchangers.
High strength: Aluminum is an effective solid solution strengthening element, which makes the strength (tensile strength, yield strength) of CuZn20Al2 much higher than ordinary brass (such as CuZn37), and even close to some low-alloy steels. This allows the tube to withstand higher pressure and mechanical loads.
Good thermal conductivity: As a copper alloy, it retains good thermal conductivity, which is essential for heat exchange applications.
Good processing performance: Although it has high strength, it still has certain formability and weldability (usually fusion welding, such as TIG welding, but it should be noted that the weldability of aluminum brass is more complicated than that of ordinary brass).
Anti-biofouling (to a certain extent): Copper ions have a certain antibacterial effect, which helps to reduce the formation of biofouling in pipes.

Applications
Condenser tubes: used for steam condensers in ship engines and power plants. Its excellent seawater corrosion resistance and thermal conductivity are key.
Heat exchanger tubes: widely used in heat exchangers in ships, offshore platforms, desalination plants, and chemical plants. It can withstand corrosive media such as seawater, brackish water, and certain chemical solutions.
Seawater pipeline system: high-pressure pipelines, valves, pump body connecting pipes, etc. used to transport seawater require high corrosion resistance and high strength.
Ship accessories: such as connecting pipes and accessories of seawater cooling systems.
Power station condenser tubes: the same as ship applications, it is a key material for condensers of thermal power plants and nuclear power plants using cooling towers in coastal or inland areas.
Geothermal system: heat exchanger tubes used in geothermal energy utilization systems, resistant to corrosion from geothermal fluids.
Chemical heat exchanger tubes: heat exchange equipment used to handle corrosive chemical media (such as certain acids, alkalis, and salt solutions), requiring materials to have both corrosion resistance and a certain strength.
Hydraulic lines: Used as pipes in high-pressure hydraulic systems that require extremely high strength, good toughness and some corrosion resistance
