HFW Solid Finned Tube, also known as high frequency welded helical
solid finned tube, is a type of spiral finned tube that offers high
thermal efficiency and a compact design solution for various heat
exchangers utilizing clean flue gas. The two types of spiral finned
tubes are solid type and serrated type.
Helical solid finned tubes are manufactured by helically wrapping a
continuous strip of fins around the tube and welding it
continuously using high frequency resistance welding at a frequency
of 400 kHz. This ensures a strong contact between the fin tape and
the surface of the base tube. The welding process takes place at
the root of the helix, where the fin strip bends around the
diameter of the tube.
To determine the required heat transfer surface area per unit
length of tube, specifications such as fin height, fin thickness,
and/or number of fins per meter of length need to be provided for a
given tube or pipe size.
The HFW Solid Finned Tube configuration is suitable for various
heat exchanger applications, particularly those involving high
temperatures and high pressures. It offers efficient and reliable
bonding between the fin and the tube, allowing it to withstand high
temperatures on the fin side under all temperature and pressure
conditions.
Technical details of the base tube include a pipe diameter range of
20mm to 219mm, tube thickness ranging from 2mm to 16mm, and
materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel,
weathering steel, duplex steel, super duplex steel, inconel, high
chromium high nickel and chromium alloys, CK 20 material, and
others.
Regarding the fin details, the fin thickness ranges from 0.8mm to
4mm, fin height ranges from 0.25" (6.35mm) to 1.5" (38mm), and fin
density ranges from 43 fins per meter to 287 fins per meter. The
materials used for fins are carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy
steel, weathering steel, duplex steel, and incolloy.

Introduction:
Helical Solid Finned Tubes with High Frequency Welding (HFW) ASTM
A335 P9 Studded Tube are high-quality, durable and versatile
products designed for various industrial applications. The tubes
are characterized by their exceptional material properties, making
them suitable for a wide range of challenging environments and
demanding conditions.
Product Features:
1. Material: The Helical Solid Finned Tubes are made from ASTM A335
P9 material, which is a high-grade alloy steel known for its
excellent mechanical properties, resistance to corrosion, and high
temperature resistance. The use of this material ensures the tubes'
durability and performance under extreme operating conditions.
2. High Frequency Welding (HFW): The tubes employ high frequency
welding techniques, which provide superior bond strength, weld
integrity, and consistency. This welding process ensures a seamless
connection between the finned and base tube, enhancing the overall
performance and reliability of the tubes.
3. Studded Tube Design: The studded tube design facilitates
improved heat transfer efficiency. The studs present on the outer
surface of the tubes increase the overall heat transfer area and
promote enhanced thermal conductivity. This design feature allows
for efficient heat exchange, making the tubes suitable for
applications where precise temperature control is required.
Applications:
Helical Solid Finned Tubes with High Frequency Welding (HFW) ASTM
A335 P9 Studded Tube find applications in a wide range of
industries and processes, including but not limited to:
1. Petrochemical Industry: The tubes are commonly used in heat
exchangers, boilers, and condensers for efficient heat transfer in
oil refineries, chemical plants, and petrochemical complexes.
2. Power Generation: These tubes play a significant role in power
plants, aiding in the efficient transfer of heat in boilers,
superheaters, and heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs).
3. Process Industry: The tubes are widely used in various process
industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, and pulp and
paper, where temperature control and heat transfer are critical.
