ASTM A213 / ASME SA213 TP304 Stainless Steel Seamless Heat Exchanger Tube



ASTM A213 TP304 stainless steel seamless heat exchanger tubes with good bending and welding process performance, corrosion resistance, high lasting strength and organizational stability, and very good cold deformation capacity. Use temperature up to 650 ℃, oxidation resistance temperature up to 850 ℃. Applications: Used in the manufacture of large generating set boiler superheater tubes, reheater tubes, steam pipes and heat exchange tubes for petrochemicals. The allowable oxidation resistance temperature for boiler tubes is 705°C.



What is the difference between 304, 304L and 304H stainless steel heat exchanger tube?


1.There are hundreds of different grades of stainless steel on the market. Each of these unique stainless steel formulations offers a degree of corrosion resistance superior to that of ordinary steel.


2.The presence of these stainless steel variants can cause some confusion - especially when the names and formulations of the two stainless steel alloys are nearly identical. This is the case with 304 and 304L stainless steel.

These three alloys are very similar, but there is one key difference. The maximum carbon content of 304 stainless steel is 0.08%, while the maximum carbon content of 304L stainless steel is 0.03%. The "L" in 304L can be understood to mean ultra-low carbon. This 0.05% difference in carbon content results in a slight but significant difference in the properties of the two alloys.



Mechanical difference


Compared to the "standard" grade 304 stainless steel alloy, grade 304L has a slight but significant reduction in key mechanical properties.

When choosing, be sure to consider whether its low carbon version TP304L or other stainless steel grades with better performance such as TP316, TP321 are needed according to various conditions such as application environment temperature, pressure, medium corrosiveness, welding requirements, etc.
