Description
Grade304 is the standard "18/8" stainless; it is the most versatile
and most widely used stainless steel, available in a wider range of
products, forms and finishes than any other. It has excellent
forming and welding characteristics.. It is an austenitic stainless
steel and has chromium content in it. This makes the ASTM A312
Grade Tp304l corrosion resistant. This quality is desired in most
applications.
The grade 304L can be used in mild chemicals with less acidity and
less oxidation and reduction capacity. Food and beverages
industries often deal with mild acids like carbonic acids, citric
acid and tartaric acids. These are found in food items and are mild
acids that do not corrode the 304L Pipe. The material has 18%
chromium and 8% nickel along with other additions but with less
carbon than the ordinary SS304 Pipe material.
304L is a variant of 304 stainless steel with lower carbon content
and is used where welding is required. The lower carbon content
minimizes the precipitation of carbides in the heat-affected zone
near the weld, and the precipitation of carbides may cause
stainless steel to produce intergranular corrosion (welding
erosion) in certain environments.
304L stainless steel has poor forging performance and difficult
deformation.
Due to work hardening. So that the amount of deformation in the
process of mandrel drawing can not be too large. And the heat loss
is large. Therefore, it must be formed under many fires. If the
high temperature holding stage is not handled well, it will cause
coarse crystals.
