Description
The water temperature sensor is installed on the water jacket of
the engine block or cylinder head and is in direct contact with the
coolant to measure the coolant temperature of the engine. The
temperature sensor used by the coolant temperature gauge is a
negative temperature coefficient thermistor (NTC), whose resistance
decreases as the temperature increases, and there is a wire
connected to the electronic control unit ECU. The other is the
ground wire. As shown in Figure 1.
Characteristic
1. Low temperature sensors use thermocouples and thermistors to
sense temperature. The low temperature sensor can be used as
passive resistance output, thermocouple output or active PWM and
analog output. Active temperature sensors must be powered by a
regulated (5V or 8V) supply.
