The GE Fanuc IC697BEM731 module is a BCM or bus controller module
that is part of the Series 90-70 product line and that is intended
to be used as a bus controller in the Series 90-70 PLCs. This
controller module only weighs 2 pounds. It also only has 1 I/O
channel.
The IC697BEM731 bus controller module can be installed in just 1
slot on the PLC rack and it can be configured with configuration
software that is Windows-based. The IC697BEM731 bus controller
module operates by scanning all the I/O in the PLC serially and
then transferring all of the I/O data to the backplane once the
scanning process has been completed. It can also handle peer to
peer data transfers.
The GE Fanuc Series 90-70 IC697BEM731 bus controller module can use
LANs to connect to other bus controller modules and PCIMs, and it
will act as the communication node for these devices and the LAN.
It has a default Baud rate of 153.5 kBaud. The IC697BEM731 bus
controller module can be configured to handle global communication
applications.
This module should only be installed in the Series 90-70 PLC system when the power is off in order to avoid component damage or serious injuries. It has 1 serial port which is an HHM or handheld monitor port that allows it to connect to a monitor that the users can hold in their hands which will give them real-time visual updates about the bus controller module, its applications, and any faults or errors that may occur in the system.
