EDI, also called electric desalination is a new ultra pure water technology which gradually developed in the 20th century, which combines electric dialysis technology and ions exchange technology. It is using the selectivity penerate function of anion and cation membrane and exchange function of ions exchange resin, under direct current electric field to make ion directed migration. Finally to make deep desalination of water. In the same time, hydrogen ion and hydroxide ion which produced when water ionized will regeneration, and it can produce ultra pure water continuously.

Process Characteristics of EDI Water Treatment Plant

 

EDI,Electro-deionization uses mixed ion exchange resin to absorb anion and cation in water, at the same time, the asorption of ions and under the action of dc voltage, respectively through ion exchange membrane into drain water and elcetrical water so as to be removed, on the other hand, under the action of dc voltage, water can produce enough dissociated H + ions and OH - ions, in order to realize continuous deep desalting.This new technology can replace the traditional ion exchange (DI),The system can produce pure water with resistance rate as high as 18 m Ω .EDI's most significant advantage is that it eliminates the need for acids and alkaline which are used in the generation of ion-exchange resins making it more environmentally friendly.

 

Advantages of EDI compared with traditional mixed bed:

 

The advantages of continuous desalting by electrodialysis and deep desalting by ion exchange are retained;

Compared with ordinary ion exchange resin column, the amount of ion exchange resin is less, saving more than 95% of resin;

Ion exchange resin does not need acid and alkali chemical regeneration, saving a lot of acid and alkali and cleaning water, greatly reducing labor intensity;

No waste acid waste lye discharge, is clean production technology, green environmental protection products;

The process is easy to realize automatic control, EDI and reverse osmosis (RO), UF and other water treatment technology combined, can form a perfect high pure water production line;

Small footprint, and do not need to be like ion-exchange beds, a set of in-use, a set of regeneration of the repeated Settings.
