CNPetro Petrolatum Tape is ideal for coating pipelines. It can be utilized for connecting houses and fittings, however, it is especially perfect for intricate components like T-pieces when used in conjunction with petroleum filling material. The tape serves as an anti-corrosive binding, coated with modified petroleum on both sides and made of chemical fiber based materials such as non-woven. The tape is highly adhesive and elastic, possessing a high softening point.

Our petroleum tape is wrapped as an inner wrapping tape and has one additional layer of outer wrapping tape for mechanical protection. This ensures that the tape will remain secure and provide long-lasting protection against harmful elements that can damage pipelines.

Applications:

To prepare surfaces for coating application, it is essential to remove any loose scale, rust or foreign matter. This can be done by following the guidelines given in SSPC SP2 “Hand Tool Cleaning” or SP3 “Power Tool Cleaning”. Alternatively, a high-pressure water wash of 3,000-7,000 psi (20.68-48.26 MPa) can also be used.

Once the surface is clean, apply a thin film of petroleum paste. Then, spirally wrap the tape with a 55% overlap. As you wrap the tape, ensure that you press out any air pockets and smooth all the lap seams.

If you have to coat irregular surfaces such as valves, flanges, etc., you may require the use of Petroleum Filler Mastic or Profiling Mastic.
