The most basic requirements for extending into the combustion
chamber electrode are ablation (erosion and chemical corrosion) and
good thermal conductivity.
Spark plugs With the development of materials science and process
technology, the electrode material has experienced the evolution of
iron, nickel, nickel-based alloys, nickel-copper composites and
precious metals. Now the most commonly used is nickel-based alloy.
In general, the thermal conductivity of pure metals is superior to
that of alloys, but the chemical corrosion of pure metals (such as
nickel) to the combustion gases and the solid deposits formed is
more sensitive than alloys. Therefore, the electrode material is
nickel-based to add chromium, manganese, silicon and other
elements, chromium to improve the resistance to corrosion,
manganese and silicon to improve chemical resistance, especially

Nickel-based alloys are less thermally conductive than copper, with
