    • Usage: Favored by typists who enjoy audible feedback but can be noisy.

  • Cherry: The original manufacturer of mechanical switches, known for reliability.
  • Gateron: Offers smooth operation and is often considered a budget-friendly alternative to Cherry.
  • Kailh: Known for a wide variety of switch types and styles.
  • Razer: Custom switches made for gaming, often featuring unique designs.

3. Factors to Consider

  • Actuation Force: The amount of force required to press a key. Lighter switches (e.g., Red) require less force, while heavier switches (e.g., Black) require more.
  • Travel Distance: The distance a key travels before it's actuated. Most switches have a travel distance of around 4mm.
  • Durability: Mechanical switches can last for tens of millions of keystrokes, making them more durable than membrane switches.

Graphic overlays can be embossed in order to insert domes/LED, leave space for mechanical keys/LED and provide tactile indications and better tactile feeling.
