Magnesium alloy is a lightweight material that can meet the needs of various industries and has a promising development prospect. Compared with aluminum and steel, magnesium alloy material has the following characteristics:
(1) Magnesium alloy has a density of only 1700kg/m3, which is 2/3 that of aluminum alloy and 1/4 that of steel. Therefore, magnesium alloy is suitable for the lightweight structural parts.
(2) The specific strength and stiffness of magnesium alloy are higher than those of aluminum alloy and steel. products due to its light weight. Its applications include aircraft

devices, etc.
History
Magnesium alloy has been used in aviation and aerospace earlier,
and also in weapons. It was first used in military industry in
1916, and was used to manufacture 77mm shell lead.
After using magnesium alloy, spaceship and satellite components can adapt to the special environment of space operation, such as temperature limit caused by aerodynamic heating, ozone erosion, short wave electromagnetic radiation and impact of high-energy particles (electrons, protons and small meteorites).
