Air spring components
Air Fitting: A threaded hole to allow spring supply from an air
compressor
Nuts/Bolts/Studs: A method of attaching an air spring to a
component. Some air springs contain a combination bolt and air
fitting.
Bead Board: A crimped sheet of metal that encloses the spring and
allows connections. This is usually forged steel, cast zinc alloy
or cast aluminum.
Bellows: A physical multi-layer material that traps compressed gas.
Usually made of neoprene or rubber.
Girdle hoop: Found only in air springs of complex design, used to
separate bellows chambers.
Bumper: An optional liner layer that protects the piston from
damage should the air spring fail.
