Functions and Features

An AT6 board transmits/receives and processes six-channel analog voice signals or E&M signaling, and provides alarms and events for maintenance.

Table 1 provides the functions and features supported by an AT6 board.

Basic functions
  • Supports the E&M trunk functions.

    An N1AT6 board supports only the 1E1M mode. An N2AT6 board supports the 1E1M, 2E2M, reverse 2E2M modes.

  • Supports 2-wire/4-wire audio signals.

    An N1AT6 board supports the setting of 2-wire/4-wire audio modes by both setting DIP switches manually on the board and using the NMS. An N2AT6 board supports the setting of 2-wire/4-wire audio modes using the NMS.

    • 2-wire/4-wire audio port TX Gain (dB): -20.0 to 1.5, in steps of 0.5.
    • 2-wire/4-wire audio port RX Gain (dB): -7.0 to 14.0, in steps of 0.5.
  • E&M signaling:
    • N1AT6 VER.A: supports the Bell type V E&M signaling.
    • N1AT6 VER.B and N2AT6: support the Bell types I, II, III, IV, V and SSDC5 E&M signaling.
    NOTE:
    An AT6 board does not support E&M signaling of Bell types I, III, and V when the NE uses UPM boards.
  • An N2AT6 board supports the association of signaling and services.

    • None: not associate.

    • Signaling Reception: When the port reception status M wire is idle, the audio services sent to the cross-connection side are invalid; when the M wire is busy, the audio services are valid.

    • Signaling Transmission: When the audio services received from the cross-connect side are invalid, the port transmission status E wire is idle; when the services are valid, the E wire is busy.

    • Signaling Reception and Transmission: associates signaling with services in both the receive and transmit directions.
      NOTE:
      When working in 2E2M mode, the board processes only the first channel of E&M signaling, if signaling and services are associated.

  • External ports:
    • N1AT6: DDN-1 to DDN-6, representing six external ports which always use timeslot 1, with port IDs 1 to 6, respectively.
    • N2AT6: an Anea 96 port, providing six logical ports each of which consists of 10 wires, representing DDN-1 to DDN-6.
  • Internal ports: 2M-1 to 2M-6, representing six E1 internal ports that use timeslots 1-15 and 17-31, with port IDs 65 to 70, respectively.
Service processingTransmits/Receives and processes six-channel 64 kbit/s signals.
Overhead processingSupports the setting and query of the V5 and J2 bytes.
Alarms and eventsProvides alarms and events for maintenance and fault locating.
Maintenance features
  • Supports warm and cold resets. The warm reset does not affect services.
  • Supports the query of the manufacturing information of the board.
