Product Details

Description

Disposable vacuum filter system is a filtration system commonly utilized in research labs for large sample separation and purification. They are designed to provide a convenient and efficient method for filtering liquids, removing particulate matter, and sterilizing or clarifying solutions.

The disposable filter system includes one membrane filter, graduated funnel made of clear polystyrene and a polystyrene receiving bottle or container. It combines with a vacuum pump to provide pressure differentials across the membrane filter allowing liquid to pass through and retain particulates on the membrane. The processed liquid is collected in the receiving bottle underneath. The filter membrane is made of materials, such as polyethersulfone (PES), Nylon, MCE ,PVDF etc. and comes in various pore sizes (0.10μm, 0.22μm and 0.45μm) to accommodate different applications. There are multiple combinations of top funnel and receiving bottle volumes (250mL, 500mL and 1000mL).

Features

  • Membrane filter available in 0.22μm and 0.45μm pore sizes for different applications
  • Neck color coded: Green (PES), Dark blue (MCE), Purple (Nylon) and Yellow (Hydrophilic PVDF)
  • Funnel and receiving bottle volume size available: 250 , 500 and 1000ml
  • Filter Diameter: 50mm membrane for 250ml units and 90mm for 500 ml and 1000ml units
  • Filtration area: 250mL (17 sq cm) and 500 mL (64 sq cm)
  • Light weight and heavy wall construction
  • Reservoir bottles feature easy grip for improved handling with simple tightening and loosening adjustments
  • Designed with a wide mouth for easy access for efficient and smooth pouring
  • Engraved graduation ensures durability
  • Hose connector can fit multiple hose diameters
  • Detergent free, tissue culture compatible and heat sealed to the support grid to maximise flow rate, reduce foaming and protein denaturation
  • Certified non-pyrogenic

Application

  • Sterile Filtration of Liquids: Used for aseptic filtration of culture media, buffers, and other solutions to ensure a sterile environment for cell culture and microbiological applications.
  • Biological Sample Clarification: Effective in removing particles and debris from biological samples such as cell culture supernatants, lysates, or fermentation broths to obtain clarified solutions for downstream processes.
  • Water and Environmental Analysis: Employed in environmental monitoring and water analysis to filter out particulate matter, microbes, or contaminants from water samples prior to analysis.
  • Pharmaceutical Filtration: Applied in pharmaceutical laboratories for the filtration of drug formulations, reagents, or solutions to ensure purity and eliminate contaminants. Laboratory Research and Experiments: Widely utilized in research laboratories for various applications such as sample preparation, purification, or clarification steps in experiments involving proteins, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules

 Membrane options

  •   PES-The fastest flow rate, the lowest protein binding and low extractables and are best for filtering cell culture media.
  •   MCE-Filtration of aqueous solutions, effectively binds trace proteins.
  •   Nylon-Naturally hydrophilic, surfactant-free and offer the lowest extractables.
  •   PVDF-Suitable for aqueous solutions and organic solvent filtration.

Warning

  • With the bottle Top Filter, don't use plastic or glass bottles, flakes or other containers that are not designed  to withstand vacuum
  • Don't use on media bottles larger than 2L
  • Working temperature:4℃~37℃
  • Apply vacuum pressure. A differential of 0.03-0.06Mpa. Decrease pressure if excessive foaming occurs.
  • Hand tighten the Bottle Top Filter onto the bottle neck,do not over tighten.
  • Always use safety equipment, including eye protection  when working with any vacuun system.
  • Work in a sterile(Laminar flow) hood to assist in maintaining sterility.
  • Not recommend to recycle products that have been used with hazardous materials , hazardous waste, or biohazard items .
