There are many kinds of fiber, and the functions and performances are different according to the different applications. But for optical fiber using in cable television and communication, the design and manufacture principle is basically the same, such as: with small loss; with certain bandwidth and dispersion; easy for cabling; easy for unification; with high reliability; simple for manufacturing, low cost and so on. The classification of optical fiber is mainly by work wavelength, refractive index distribution, transmission mode, raw materials and manufacturing methods.

1, Operating wavelength: ultraviolet fiber, appreciable optical fiber, near infrared fiber, infrared fiber (0.85μm, 1.3μm, 1.55μm).

2, Refractive index distribution: step (SI) optical fiber, near step fiber, tapered (GI) fiber, and other (such as triangle type, W type, dent type, etc.).

3, Transmission modes: single-mode fibers (including polarization maintaining fibers, non polarization maintaining fibers), multi-mode fibers.

4, Raw materials: quartz fiber, multi-component glass fiber, plastic optical fiber, composite fiber (such as plastic cladding, liquid fiber core, etc.), infrared materials, etc.. it also can be divided into inorganic materials (carbon, etc.), metal materials (copper, nickel, etc.) and plastics according to the coating materials.

5, Manufacturing method: pre plastic vapor phase axial deposition (VAD), chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method, drawing tube (Rod intube) method and double crucible method and so on.

 

Fiberall’s SMA to SMA fiber optic patch cord is with SI step optical fiber and GI tapered optical fiber is also available. Our SMA fiber optic jumper is available with SMA 905 or SMA 906 connectors and SMA 905 fiber connectors are available with stainless alloy or stainless steel ferrules.
