PLDD technique and procedure

The laser application was introduced at the end of 70’s such in several surgical specialities with great advantages both for the surgeon both for the patient.
At the end of the past millennium a new application area took place: Percutaneous laser disc decompression (PLDD)
Today, after 10 years of international experiences, the PLDD procedure can be considered as the mini invasive and standardized solution for the herniated disc treatment.
PLDD procedure has become a technique daily used by an even bigger number of specialists all across the world.
Italy had a primary rule in the development of materials, standardization and correct diffusion of the procedure by the contribute of his scientists and specialists.
Since 2003 the Italian laser utilizers have been developing more than thirty meeting days of learning projects and tutoring courses with the help of qualified professional people.

Operated with 400um/600um fiber optic, Chearylas 1470nm laser system is a versatile, multifunctional
medical diode laser machine ideal for minimal invasive PLDD.

 

The Cherylas 1470nm, with larger water absorption properties appears to have an effect on the entire nucleus pulposus and not only in surrounding tissue of laser fiber (carbonization zone). During PLDD, disc volume is minimally decreased, however, disc pressure can be significantly lowered. When using laser for disc decompression, a small amount of nucleus pulposus evaporates.

The higher power (watts) level laser models provide faster treatment times and delivery of optimal energy dosages, an enhanced ability to treat difficult conditions, and enhanced clinical outcomes.

Interactive User Interface

Treatments can be administered and managed with three options: 1) Manual Protocols using the power level, operating mode and timer selections; 2) Preset Protocols that utilize a built-in database of protocols that are organized by anatomy and condition; 3) Custom Protocols that allows the user to create their own unique protocols.

 

Choice Of Different Operating Modes

Two operating modes Continuous Wave (CW) or Pulsed Modes (50khzFrequencies) are built into the diode laser equipment. The specific power level (watts) can be adjusted through progress bar on the color touchscreen. The Pulsewidth can be operated using different units, like you can set duration 50us, interval 1ms.
