The Working Pricinple of Brush DC Motor

Brushed DC motors work by having the coil rotate inside the surrounding magnets. The rotation of the coil causes the contact between commutator and brush to alternate, therefore switching the current flow through the coil. As a result, the brushed DC motor can operate.

The Strcture of Brush Motor

The general structure of a DC (brushed) motor is shown in Fig. 2.1. Permanent magnets are located within the stator, and situated in the center of these is a rotor containing windings. The rotor contains several windings, and both ends are connected to the commutator.
