There are two ways to change the speed of an induction motor
1. Change the terminal voltage of the stator.
2. Change the frequency of the stator. The output torque of a new
energy vehicle motor can vary with the terminal voltage of the
stator. Note that changes in voltage will not change the speed
difference corresponding to the maximum torque of the motor.
The principle of controlling the motor speed by changing its
operating frequency is based on the relationship between frequency
and synchronous speed: e=4/p, e varies with f.
The power electrical converter drives the induction motor to
rotate, and the conversion device converts the constant voltage
provided by the outside into variable voltage with different
amplitudes and frequencies based on the requirements of motor
torque and speed.
Characteristics of Induction Motors

The rotor in an induction motor does not have a specific electrical
connection.
In specialized electric vehicle motors, it is best to meet the above conditions. Asynchronous motors meet these conditions to a certain extent. Asynchronous motors have low cost and high reliability, and even if the inverter is damaged and short circuited, it will not generate reverse electromotive force, so there is no possibility of sudden braking. Therefore, it is widely used in large and high-speed electric vehicles. In order to meet the above requirements, major companies have conducted research and developed various asynchronous motors with unique characteristics. In general, as a specialized electric motor for electric vehicles, due to limited installation conditions and the requirement for small and lightweight, when the motor operates at high speeds above 10000r/min, it mostly uses a first stage gear reducer to achieve deceleration. In addition, vibration makes the working environment very harsh, requiring high torque at low speeds and constant output power over a wide speed range. Therefore, asynchronous motors for electric vehicles are different from general industrial motors, and various new methods are adopted in their design.
