What is CNC milling?

CNC milling is a particular form of precision machining in which a cutter removes material by moving into the workpiece at an angle. The movement of the cutter is controlled by computer instructions, allowing for extreme precision and repeatability.
Milling is different to CNC turning, another popular CNC service in which a single-point cutting tool is used to cut the workpiece from block or bar materials while it is rotated at speed in a chuck. Unlike milling, CNC turning is generally used to create round or tubular shapes.

1. Check the power and stiffness of the machine tool to ensure that the diameter of the milling cutter can be used in the machine tool as short as possible;
2. The number of teeth of the milling cutter is moderate to ensure that there are not too many blades engaged with the workpiece at the same time and caused by vibration. When milling narrow workpiece or cavity, there should be enough blades and workpiece meshing;
3. Appropriate feed per tooth, in order to get good cutting effect when the chip is thick enough to reduce tool wear. Positive front Angle slot blade is used to achieve smooth cutting effect and lowest power.
4. Milling cutter diameter suitable for the width of the workpiece;
5. Correct main deflection Angle (45 degrees suitable for general milling);
6. Suitable milling cutter position;
7. Dry milling usually results in better tool life by using cutting fluid only when necessary
