What is the Pilot Drill bit?

Before drilling, a rigid centering drill is used to drill an initial hole with a depth of 1-2 times the diameter to ensure the accuracy position of drilling with ordinary drill bit, and reserve chamfer for tapping, this kind of drill bit is pilot drill bit, pilot drill bit is also named chamfer drill bit because of its chamfer function.
 
This kind of chamfer end mill also has the function of pilot drill, to pilot drill  on the alumimun workpiece a 90 or 60 degree chamfer, please tell the sales person what degree you want when you order this product.

The tip angle of the pilot drill should be equal to or greater than that of the final hole. If the top angle of the pilot drill is small, then the two cutting edges contacting the workpiece before the tip which is easy to cause the edge collapse when the micro drill cuts in.
