Product Introduction:
Maca is a plant that grows in central Peru in the high plateaus of
the Andes mountains. It has been cultivated as a vegetable crop in
Peru for at least 3000 years. Maca is a relative of the radish and
has an odor similar to butterscotch. Its root is used to make
medicine.
Maca is used for “tired blood” (anemia); chronic fatigue syndrome
(CFS); and enhancing energy, stamina, athletic performance, memory,
and fertility. Women use maca for female hormone imbalance,
menstrual problems, and symptoms of menopause.
Maca root (lepidium meyenii) is an adaptogen and a member of the cruciferous family, like broccoli and cabbage, but due to it’s unique properties it considered one of the world’s natural “super foods.” Maca is grown high in the mountains of South America, mainly in high altitude regions of Peru.
The pleasant tasting root is usually available in powder form after being harvested and grounded down. The maca root benefits include a positive effect on hormone balance, energy levels, and a health booster.
And not only is it a natural source of healing nutrition, but it also has a long history of being a safe superfood that has been consumed for its medicinal benefits for thousands of years in regions of the Andes Mountains.
Maca is a pleasant tasting root usually available in powder form. It is very rich in nutrients (has a higher calcium level than milk) and is very nutrient dense.

Health benefits of Maca powder:
1) Sexual Function
In a 2008 study from CNS Neuroscience & Therapeutics,
researchers found that maca may help alleviate sexual dysfunction
caused by use of selective-serotonin reuptake inhibitors (or SSRIs,
a class of medications used in the treatment of depression).
2) Fertility
One small study looked at the effect of 4 months of treatment with
maca tablets on semen quality in nine adult men. Treatment with
maca resulted in increased semen volume, sperm count, and sperm
motility. Serum levels of testosterone and estradiol were not
affected.
There are different types of maca, including yellow, black, and red
maca. Black maca appears to have the greatest effect on sperm
count, followed by yellow maca, which has moderate effects.
3) Mood in Menopause
Maca may help ease anxiety and depression in postmenopausal women,
according to a 2008 study from the journal Menopause. For the
study, 14 postmenopausal women took 3.5 grams of powdered maca for
six weeks and then took a matching placebo for another six weeks.
Study results showed that maca helped reduce anxiety and
depression, as well as improve sexual function.
