Vicarb  Heat Exchanger Plates

  1. The heat exchanger plate is a plate specially used in plate heat exchangers to isolate the medium and perform heat exchange. There are four corner holes on the plate for the two liquids for heat transfer to pass. Plate materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and its alloys, brass, Monel alloy, nickel, aluminum, titanium, etc. At present, stainless steel is the most widely used. Due to the good corrosion resistance of titanium, especially in chlorine-containing media, although titanium is very expensive, titanium plate heat exchangers are still widely used in highly corrosive situations. The thickness of the plate is very thin, 0.5~1.5 mm, usually about 1 mm. The key to manufacturing plate heat exchangers is the forming of plates, which are currently almost all stamped plates.

Heat exchanger plate classification

  • The cross-section shape of herringbone corrugated plates is often triangular. The herringbone corrugated plate not only has good rigidity, but also has better heat transfer performance. However, the flow resistance is large and it is not suitable for fluids containing particles or fibers.
  • Horizontal straight corrugated plate is a horizontal straight corrugated plate with an isosceles triangle cross-section shape. Its heat transfer and fluid mechanics properties are both good, and the water-water heat transfer coefficient can be reached.
  • The characteristic of the zigzag corrugated plate is that the cross-sectional area of the flow channel remains unchanged after assembly, so the resistance is small and it can run at high speed. There are many supporting contacts and high rigidity.
