Tungsten alloys are always used as radioactive source and transport containers, FDG container, PET syringe shields and vial shield in isotope production, transport, and containment. Apart from it, they are used as all kinds of shielding and collimators in gamma radiography or gamma camera, industrial instrumentation, nuclear power plant and clinical point shielding, oncology isotopic, accelerator based platforms and homeland defence like personal protection equipment for emergency responders and large container inspection devices, etc.

 

Advantage of Tungsten Alloy Radiation Shielding

 

Experts find that radiation exposure could be reduced by maxing shielding.The density of Tungsten Alloy Radiation Shielding material is related to its radiation stopping ability. Higher density means better stopping and absorbing radiation ray . Due to a higher density than most other materials, tungsten radiation shielding has a much higher ability of absorbing and stopping almost rays than others metals such as the traditional radiation shielding - lead. Tungsten radiation shielding greater linear attenuation of gamma radiations means that less is required for equal shielding. Alternatively equal amounts of tungsten shielding provide diminished exposure risks than equivalent lead
