Alcohol-soluble Solid Acrylic Resin for inks
Flexographic and gravure printing is widely used for printing in
the packaging industry. Since the ink most must dry by evaporation
from the substrate, the vehicle for the ink must be a volatile
solvent. Alcohols have been found to be quite suitable solvents for
this use. Acrylic polymers have been used as binders for these
inks. these acrylic polymers are the most alcohol-soluble.
Accordingly, it would be desirable to provide a more
alcohol-soluble acrylic polymer which is a good binder for these
flexographic and gravure inks.
SA-601 is a copolymer of ethyl methacrylate and butyl methacrylate,
which can be dissolved in alcohol. These acrylic copolymers of
SA-601provide an improvement over the acrylic polymers used hereto
fore as binders for flexographic and gravure inks. These copolymers
provide improved alcohol solubility and printability while also
providing good crinkle adhesion, thermal lamination bond strength
and adhesive bond strength for this use.
- Characteristics and Advantages
- is a copolymer of ethyl methacrylate and butyl methacrylate.

flexographic inks, gravure inks, wood finishes lacquers and BOPP
film adhesions.
- is soluble in alcohols, esters, ketones, aromatic, glycol ethers
and glycol ether acetates.
