The role of the oil pump

 
Oil pump is a key component essential to the normal operation of the engine. The role of the oil pump is to press the oil in the oil sump to the oil filter and the lubriing oil channel after pressurization, so as to lubrie the main moving parts of the engine and make the oil get filtered.
When the engine is working, the oil pump keeps working, so as to ensure that the oil is circulating in the lubriing oil path. Under various working conditions of the engine, the oil pump should ensure the supply of sufficient lubriing oil. As the speed of the oil pump is proportional to the engine speed, the oil pump has the worst oil supply capacity at low speed. So we design the oil pump with sufficient oil supply capacity at low speed in mind.

The working principle of oil pump
 
When the engine is operating, the timing gears of the crankshaft rotate the oil pump. The rotor teeth are designed in such a way that when the rotor is turned to any position, the gear lines always make point contact with each other. In this way, a closed cavity is formed between the inner and outer rotor, and when it is turned from the oil inlet, the volume increases and a vacuum is generated, and the lubriing oil is sucked in through the oil inlet; when the cavity where the lubriing oil is sucked in is connected to the oil outlet, the volume in the cavity decreases and the oil pressure rises, and the lubriing oil is pressed out from the outlet. When the engine keeps running, the oil pump also keeps running, forcing the lubriing oil to circulate according to the prescribed path; when the oil pump pumping pressure is too big or too small, the pressure limiting valve opens or closes.
