What is the CVD diamond?

Chemical Vapour Deposition or more familiar CVD is the term associated with synthesized or Lab grown diamonds that are cultivated or manufactured in labs using intricate technological processes, the diamonds manufactured through this procedure are known as CVD diamonds. CVD diamonds are indistinguishable to natural diamonds because of their much similar physical properties and chemical composition.

The history of CVD cultivated diamonds can be traced back to 1952. William Eversole of the US Federal Silicon Carbide Company successfully grown synthetic diamonds with carbon-containing gas under low pressure conditions.

It was not until the 21st century that the research and development of gem-grade CVD single-crystal created diamonds made a breakthrough: the American Apollo Diamond Company successfully cultivated the first batch of colorless gem-grade CVD diamonds in 2007.However, CVD diamonds are not created the exact way a natural diamond is formed. It produced diamonds from a heated mixture of gases at low pressures. In ordinary situations, a combination of heated gases at low-pressure form graphite or other rock minerals. But in the CVD growth chamber, this process result in formation of beautiful gem quality CVD diamond.
