protection and environmental protection. (2) Enhanced moisture resistance After carbonization treatment of wood, the highly hygroscopic
hemicellulose degrades, resulting in a decrease in the moisture
absorption and water absorption of the wood. Under the same air
conditions, the moisture content of carbonized wood is much lower
than that of conventional wood: during the rainy season in the
south, the moisture content of carbonized wood used indoors is 7-8%
lower, and in the north, it is 3-5% lower. (3) Improved dimensional stability and less prone to deformation After carbonization, the moisture absorption and internal stress
of wood significantly decrease, greatly reducing the moisture
expansion, drying shrinkage, and warping deformation caused by
changes in moisture during use. (4) Significant improvement in corrosion and climate resistance During the carbonization process, the chemical composition of wood
changes, producing acetic acid, a substance disliked by decaying
fungi, while the preferred nutrients are greatly reduced, thus
inhibiting the growth of decaying fungi from the food chain and
improving their corrosion and weather resistance. (5) The color is beautiful, durable, consistent both inside and
outside, and can simulate the color of precious tree species. (6)
Extracts such as resin evaporate, which is beneficial for surface
coating and bonding. (7) The mechanical properties have changed: the compressive strength along the grain, flexural modulus of
elasticity, and hardness have slightly increased; The bending
strength, impact toughness, and shear strength have decreased. (8) Easy to store: Charcoal wood significantly reduces moisture absorption, so there
is no need to control temperature and humidity in the warehouse.
