Refractory mud composition and industrial use
The refractory mud is an amorphous refractory material composed of
a powdery material and a binder for modulating mud, and is mainly
used as a joint and coating material for masonry refractory brick
masonry. When used as a joint material, its quality has a
considerable influence on the quality of the masonry. It can adjust
the dimensional error of the brick and the irregular shape to make
the masonry tidy and load balanced, and make the masonry Strong and

Classification and function of unshaped refractory
materials-refractory mud
The refractory mud is an amorphous refractory material composed of
a powdery material and a binder for modulating the slurry. The
powdery material is made of sintered clinker (such as high alumina
clinker, calcined silica, magnesia, etc.) or other volume-stable
various refractory materials (such as silica, wax stone).
The refractory mud powder can be selected from sintered clinker and
other volume-stabilized refractory materials. The particle size of
the powder depends on the requirements of use, and its ultimate
particle size is generally less than 1 mm, and some are less than
0.5 mm or less. Reasonable particle composition has a great
influence on the performance of the mud, and the binder and
admixture are the same. The binder used in ordinary refractory mud
is bonded clay. At the same time, chemical binders have become more
widely used. Adding various admixtures to the refractory mud can
improve the construction performance of the refractory mud, such as
adding a water retaining agent to prolong the water loss time and
ensure the construction quality; adding a plasticizer, in the case

like.
The refractory mud can be divided into hydraulic, thermosetting and
gas-hard refractory muds according to the characteristics of
coagulation and hardening of the bonding agent. The hydraulic
refractory slurry is made of cement as a binder and can be used at
room temperature or where it may be in constant contact with water
or water vapor. The thermosetting refractory slurry is usually made
of a thermosetting binder such as phosphoric acid or phosphate.
After the mud is hardened, in addition to high strength at various
temperatures, the shrinkage is small, the joints are tight, and the
corrosion resistance is strong. The gas-hard refractory mud is
usually made of a gas-hard binder such as sodium silicate, which
can make the joints of the masonry tight.
Depending on the material of the refractory powder used, the
commonly used refractory mud can be divided into: clay, siliceous,
high-aluminum, magnesium, and heat insulation. The refractory clay
is mainly used as a contact and surface coating for refractory
brick masonry. When used as a joint material, its quality has a
great influence on the life of the masonry. It can adjust the size
error of the brick and the irregular shape.
