Description

 

A semiconductor laser, also known as a diode laser, is a type of laser that utilizes a semiconductor diode as the active medium to generate coherent light. It is one of the most common types of lasers used in various applications, including telecommunications, optical data storage, laser printing, barcode readers, laser pointers, and many others.

The basic structure of a semiconductor laser consists of a semiconductor diode, which typically comprises layers of different semiconductor materials such as gallium arsenide (GaAs) or indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs). These materials are chosen for their specific properties that enable efficient light generation.

The diode laser operates based on the principle of stimulated emission, where the emission of photons is stimulated by an external energy source. When a forward electric current is applied to the diode, it creates a population inversion of electrons in the semiconductor material. This population inversion is achieved by carefully selecting the doping levels and design of the diode structure.

 

The population inversion allows for the efficient amplification of light. As the current flows through the diode, electrons recombine with holes in the semiconductor material, releasing energy in the form of photons. These photons bounce back and forth between the reflective end facets of the diode, undergoing amplification with each pass. One facet of the diode is coated with a highly reflective material, while the other facet is partially reflective, allowing a portion of the light to escape as a laser beam.
The output characteristics of a semiconductor laser, such as the wavelength, output power, and beam quality, are determined by the materials used in the diode structure, as well as the design and manufacturing processes. Different semiconductor materials and structures can be employed to generate laser light at various wavelengths, ranging from ultraviolet to infrared, depending on the intended application.
Semiconductor lasers are favored for their compact size, efficiency, and ease of integration into electronic systems. They have revolutionized various fields of technology and continue to play a crucial role in modern optical communications, data storage, and countless other applications.

 

The diode laser has more effective power conversion efficiency than Yag laser. The compact size and independent R&D control system make it have a more competitive price. Cause of the light beam from diode laser source is big, so energy evenly distributed, make it more suitable for plastic welding, tin solder and thin metal welding.

Plastic welding: Auto parts (sensor, valves, car lights, inner and outside accessories), Medical treatment (Plastic bags, pipes conveying fluid, tank, inspection device), others (thin film, textile, food packaging).

Tin soldering: Phone 3C (Phone connector, FPCB panel, camera), Auto parts (auto sensor, switch, auto connector, PCB panel), others (Television, coils, sensor, signal antenna).

For middle-thick board welding, big piece welding, tin solder, plastic welding and other application has absolute advantage. It is economic and efficiency welding head. The models are SMA905, D80, QBH three connectors. And support 30W~4000W laser power to meet the different needs of customers.
