Q: What is granular activated carbon?Granular activated carbon is made of highly porous adsorbent
material, produced by heating organic matter such as coal, wood and
coconut shells in the absence of air, which is then pulverized into
particles. Activated carbon is positively charged and therefore
able to remove negative ions from water such as ozone, chlorine,
fluoride and dissolved organic solutes by being absorbed onto the
activated carbon.
Q: Where can we use it?
Premium coconut shell granular activated carbon filters are
commonly used in reverse osmosis pre filtration and many other
filtration applications. This filter element fits into a standard
10" housing To keep the filter system operating efficiently,
replace this filter element periodically as needed. For many
residential applications this may be 6-12 months. Before putting a
new cartridge into service, drain 2-3 gallons of water into the
waste to rinse off the toner. Water flows from bottom to top with
rubber gasket on top.
