Intravenous in-line filters serve a critical purpose in reducing exposure to particulate matter and promoting patient safety during parenteral nutrition (PN) administration. 1.2 micron in-line filter is recommended by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) for administration of total nutrient admixtures (TNAs), dextrose-amino acid admixtures and injectable lipid emulsion (ILE). With the application of 1.2 micron filters, particles larger than 2 microns, which appear to pose the most serious risk for adverse consequences are retained.

 

We are specialized in manufacturing medical filter membranes and IV filters,with 30 year’s deep expertise in the industry. The 1.2 µm filters are connected to an IV tubing set for 

 

  • Retention of fine particles, fungi, endotoxin and aerosols
  • Air venting (prevents the dangerous effects of air entering the systems)
  • Auto Air Stop Function (maintains a constant fluid level when the I.V. bottle gets empty)
     

These inline 1.2 micron filters from us are composed of 3 parts,

1.  1.2 µm pore size hydrophilic PES membrane, effective filtration area 6.6 cm2, which

  • has low protein binding
  • helps to prevent particulate contamination by retaining particles > 1.2 µm
  • reduces microbiological contamination by retaining fungi
  • reduces the risk of medication error. Solid particles > 1.2 µm occurring from incompatibility reactions are retained by the IV filter membrane
  • allows passage of lipids

     In addition, the blockage of filter membrane can be an alarming signal for an incompatibility reaction which could have severe clinical consequences for the patient when being infused.​

 

2.   0.22 μm hydrophobic PTFE venting membranes to reduce the risk of air embolism regardless position of filter. The hydrophobic characteristic of the PTFE membrane allows for the passage of air and vents the excess air out of the system while simultaneously prevent contaminants such as aqueous aerosols from entering the system.

 

3.   Medical grade ABS Housing, ultrasonically welded, without use of any glues or solvents for sealing.
