4, Why is the novelty yarn important

Novelty yarns, also called novelty or effect yarns, represent another category of yarns in which deliberate irregularities, discontinuities and color variations are introduced into the yarn structure with the primary intention being to produce enhanced esthetic and fashionable impressions.^4,7,15 Accordingly, novelty yarns are not necessarily intended for function-focus fibrous products.

Many novelty yarns are produced using a conventional staple-fiber spinning systems equipped with special accessories. Others are produced using a special spinning preparation in which blends of various fiber colors or fiber types that form fancy slivers are used. Texturized yarns made exclusively from continuous filaments can also be considered as a form of novelty yarn.
