Shanghai Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute (hereafter called as SMDERI) located in Shanghai, P. R. China was founded in 1963 and under the jurisdiction of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and now is the sole national level research center on marine diesel engines in China.
