Copper catenary wire is a type of overhead conductor used in electric power transmission and distribution systems. It is primarily made of copper, a highly conductive metal known for its excellent electrical and thermal properties. Catenary refers to the shape that the wire takes when suspended between two supports, forming a curve similar to a parabolic arch.

The copper catenary wire is designed to carry high electrical currents over long distances with minimal energy losses. The main advantages of using copper for catenary wire are its high electrical conductivity and resistance to corrosion. Copper has one of the highest electrical conductivities among commonly used metals, allowing for efficient transmission of electricity. Application

For use as overhead power source for subways, light and heavy transit systems, electrically powered mine trains, buses, and industrial cranes.
