Reasonable choice of cutting parameters


For high efficiency metal cutting, processed materials, cutting tools, cutting conditions are the three main elements. These determine the machining time, tool life and machining quality. The economical and effective machining mode must be a reasonable choice of cutting conditions.
Three elements of cutting conditions: cutting speed, feed and cutting depth directly cause tool damage. With the increase of cutting speed, the temperature of the tool tip will rise, resulting in mechanical, chemical, and thermal wear. A 20% increase in cutting speed reduces tool life by 1/2.
The relationship between feed conditions and tool rear wear occurs in a very small range. But the feed is large, the cutting temperature rises, behind the big wear. It has less effect on the tool than the cutting speed. The impact of cutting depth on the tool although no cutting speed and feed large, but in the small cutting deep cutting, the cutting material produced hardening layer, will also affect the life of the tool.
The user should choose the cutting speed according to the material being processed, hardness, cutting state, material type, feed, cutting depth and so on.
The selection of the most suitable processing conditions is based on these factors. Regular, stable wear to life is the ideal condition.
However, in practice, the choice of tool life is related to tool wear, machining size variation, surface quality, cutting noise, machining heat, etc. When determining the processing conditions, it is necessary to conduct research according to the actual situation. For stainless steel and heat resistant alloys and other difficult to process materials, you can use a coolant or choose a rigid blade.

 

(1) Cutting speed (linear velocity, circular velocity) V (m/min)
To choose the spindle revolutions per minute, you must first know what the cutting line velocity V should be. V selection: depends on the tool material, workpiece material, processing conditions, etc.
Tool material:
Hard alloy, V can be obtained higher, generally can be more than 100 m/min, the general purchase of blades are provided with technical parameters:
How many large linear velocities can be selected when processing what materials. High speed steel: V can only be lower, generally not more than 70 meters/minutes, in most cases take 20~30 meters/minutes below.
Workpiece material:
High hardness, low V; Cast iron, V is low, when the tool material is carbide, 70~80 m/min; Mild steel, V can be more than 100 m/min, non-ferrous metal, V can be higher (100~200 m/min). Quenched steel, stainless steel, V should be lower.

Processing conditions of stainless steel turned parts:
For rough machining, V is lower; Finish, V is higher. The rigid system of machine tool, workpiece and tool is poor, and V is low. If the NC program uses S as the number of spindle revolutions per minute, then S should be calculated according to the workpiece diameter and the cutting line speed V: S (spindle revolutions per minute) =V (cutting line speed) *1000/ (3.1416* workpiece diameter) If the NC program uses a constant line speed, then S can directly use the cutting line speed V (meters/minute).

(2) the amount of feed (the amount of go)
F mainly depends on the machining surface roughness requirements of the workpiece. When finishing, the surface requirements are high, and the amount of going tool is small: 0.06~0.12mm/ spindle per revolution. When roughing, it is desirable to be larger. Mainly depends on the strength of the tool, generally desirable 0.3, the main back Angle of the tool is large when the tool strength difference, the amount of feed can not be too large. In addition, the power of the machine tool, the rigidity of the workpiece and the tool should be considered. CNC program use two units of feed: mm/ minutes, MM/spindle per revolution, the above unit is MM/spindle per revolution, such as the use of MM/minutes, available formula conversion: feed per minute = feed per revolution * spindle per minute revolution

(3) Cutting depth (cutting depth) of stainless steel turned parts
When finishing, it is generally desirable to be below 0.5 (radius value). Rough machining, according to the workpiece, tool, machine tool situation, the general small lathe (the maximum processing diameter is below 400mm) turning normal state of 45 steel, the radius direction of the cutting depth is generally not more than 5mm. In addition, it should be noted that if the spindle speed of the lathe is ordinary frequency conversion speed regulation, then when the spindle speed per minute is very low (less than 100~200 RPM), the motor output power will be significantly reduced, at this time the cutting depth and the amount of feed can only be very small.

 

Choose tool properly
1 rough car, to choose high strength, good durability of the tool, in order to meet the rough car large back knife, large feed requirements.
2. Fine car, to choose high precision, good durability of the tool, in order to ensure the processing accuracy requirements.
3. In order to reduce the time of tool change and facilitate tool setting, machine clip knife and machine clip blade should be used as far as possible.
Reasonable selection of fixture
1. Try to use general fixture to clamp workpiece, avoid using special fixture;
2. Part positioning reference coincides to reduce positioning error.
Determine the processing route
The processing route is the trajectory and direction of the tool relative to the parts in the process of the exponential control machine tool.
1. Should be able to ensure the machining accuracy and surface roughness requirements;
2 should be as far as possible to shorten the processing route, reduce the tool empty travel time.
