The connecting rod is one of the main transmission mechanism of the engine, which connects the piston and the crankshaft and transfers the pressure of expanding gas acting on the top of the piston to the crankshaft, so that the reciprocating linear motion of the piston reversibly transforms into the rotary motion of the crankshaft to output power.
The function of the connecting rod is to transfer the force borne by the piston to the crankshaft and to convert the reciprocating motion of the piston into the rotating motion of the crankshaft.
The connecting rod is composed of connecting rod body, connecting rod cover, connecting rod bolt and connecting rod bearing shell.
The small head of the connecting rod is used to install the piston pin to connect the piston. The rod body is usually made into a "work" or "H" section to reduce mass while meeting the strength and stiffness requirements.
