Ultraviolet sterilization lamp for bus system 222nm
Starting May 11, the MTA will place UV lights inside subway cars
and buses at two subway and bus stops. The 'ultraviolet rays'
emitted by these lamps consist of shorter, higher-energy
wavelengths of light that can be harmful to humans if exposed to
direct sunlight.
UV light is particularly good at killing organic matter, including
virus particles, but whether it can effectively kill the new
coronavirus is still unknown. UV lamps and robots are commonly used
to disinfect objects such as water, laboratory equipment, and
spaces such as buses and airplanes. If it works well, they will
expand to more trains and buses, MTA officials said.
Regularly maintain the germicidal lamp, observe whether the
filament of the germicidal lamp is damaged, and whether the lamp
tube is cracked. If there is, stop using it and replace it with a
new one.
