beginner tips on how to use both sauna and steam room:
- Always drink a lot of water before entering and after using any of
these rooms to avoid dehydration. In fact, you can bring a bottle
of water with you so you can have a sip whenever you’re feeling
thirsty.
- Planning to head to the sauna or steam room after working out? Take
a light shower to wash off your sweat and grime (wipe your body dry
too!) before entering. Not only it’s more hygienic, your skin will
have a clean surface to absorb more of the heat and steam, and
detox more efficiently.
- You don’t need to force yourself to stay long in the sauna and
steam room if you can’t handle the heat and humidity. Leave the
room to cool down for a while before entering again if you start to
feel uneasy.
- With a clean and dry body, you can choose to head to the sauna for
some dry heat therapy (15-20 minutes) first or the steam room
(10-15 minutes) for a more moisturizing treat. After that sweat
session, cool down with a cold water dip/shower to boost your
body’s circulation and lose less body heat.
- Tips: It’s recommended to do that cycle for 2-3 times to get the
benefits but if you’re a beginner, do it once then slowly build it
up to avoid giving your body a shock. If a cold water shower is
difficult, try doing a warm to lukewarm rinse instead as you slowly
get used to cold showers.
- Give your mane a nice pampering session too when you’re in the
steam room by putting on a hair mask before you enter the room. The
steam will help the product to penetrate into your hair strands
better and stimulate hair growth too since it increases the
circulation of your scalp.
