Deep well anode installation site
Deep well tubular titanium anodes are commonly used for cathodic protection of metal structures that are prone to corrosion, such as pipelines, tanks, and ships.
In this application, the deep well tubular titanium anode is connected to a DC power source and placed in the surrounding electrolyte (e.g. soil, water, or seawater). When the DC current is applied, the anode becomes the anode of the electrochemical cell and corrodes sacrificially, while the metal structure being protected becomes the cathode and is protected from corrosion.
The deep well design of the titanium anode allows it to be inserted into a borehole or deep well and surrounded by a high-resistivity backfill material such as coke breeze or calcined petroleum coke. This ensures that the anode has a large surface area and is in close proximity to the structure being protected, providing efficient and effective corrosion protection.
